Through his newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, he regularly inspires his rapidly growing 300k subscriber base with crucial fitness tips and eye-opening journeys of fitness fanatics. Similarly, he also gives them the opportunity to throw questions at him about almost anything, from his favorite ice cream flavor to time-related struggles, during these Q&A sessions. 

In the recent edition of his newsletter, a parent sought the former athlete’s advice on the best exercise to perform amid time constraints. This was due to related commitments towards their work and a 3-year-old baby. Hence, Schwarzenegger discussed the answer with an elaborate response on a subtly critical note.

As per the source, the question illustrated a parent looking to incorporate regular fitness exercise in their daily lifestyle. However, the responsibility of their infant child, along with work, apparently inhibits them from continuing with workouts. Therefore, the query was, “If I can only realistically set time aside for one exercise, which exercise should I pick?” However, the 75-year-old bodybuilding legend was prepared to answer the question in detail. He began by highlighting the time used up scrolling social media and how it can be utilized to do daily training instead.

Furthermore, he boldly pointed out that complaining about time struggles actually means people don’t want to “prioritize” exercising, and would rather invest their time in other things. He claimed that some spend hours watching TV and Instagram, and wouldn’t get up at 5 a.m. because they want to chill till late at night. “That’s fine, but that’s not an issue of not having time, that’s an issue of choosing to use your time on something else,” the bodybuilding champion wrote.

The Austrian Oak then asserted the parent to reflect deeply on their lifestyle, and see if they can’t take out at least 30 mins from their day. He then suggested the best exercise that can be performed in under 15 mins, and stated, “my favorite total body exercises are the deadlift or the clean and press.” Similarly, in another context, a fan asked about the athlete’s views on calisthenics.

The source revealed the primary question from the Q&A session that picked on the seven-time Mr. Olympia’s thoughts on a distinct form of exercise, calisthenics. It enquired if the latter is equally healthy as weight training and if is a potential exercise for muscle growth. Therefore, the IFBB icon shared that he is often amazed by the Calisthenics athletes when they perform “wild moves” at the beach gyms, and if it has helped the fans with regular fitness, then it’s great.

However, Schwarzenegger is personally fond of bodyweight training, and hence, his followers too began with the same, per the newsletter. Regardless, the fan’s interest in calisthenics was hailed by the star athlete by quoting his enthusiastic motto, “so keep pumping!”
