Bodybuilding is a profession where individuals have to go through extreme forms of discipline. Although it is their career, more often than not, personal sacrifices pile up, sometimes quite tragically so. Former Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler recently spoke about not being able to spend this year’s Thanksgiving with his family.

Cutler is 50 years old and has returned already. Even still, his tight schedule portrays how bodybuilders are required to spend their designated time on their work despite not competing for a show. In the process of such realization, Cutler talked about how it affected his family life.

Yeah, it’s just you know, ’cause it’s like the spouses and everyone else, it’s like the families all get in different places, you know. Yeah, it’s hard to get everyone in one space.”

Moreover, Cutler also reflected on the reason for changes in his personal life. He pointed out that as people grow they do not have as much time to hang out with people as they would want to. Thus, Cutler said, “It’s really hard to hang out because of your time restraints and different schedule.”
