Former Mr. Olympia spoke about the dangers of eating ultra-processed food from McDonald’s. As one of the world’s largest fast-food chains, McDonald’s has stores across the globe. However, Yates spoke about its dangers as the negative side effects of ultra-processed fast food are becoming increasingly apparent. While the bodybuilding champion mentioned the $198 billion company, he argued against all ultra-processed fast foods.
Dorian Yates mentioned the subject while talking to UFC President Dana White’s trainer, Gary Brecka. Since the effects of ultra-processed food rear their head only after prolonged consumption, Yates described the popular ‘Mac as an explosive. “McDonald’s is like the perfect bomb,” said the bodybuilding champion. He also asked Brecka what makes fast food so harmful.
“Is it like a sudden combination of sugar, salt, fat? It’s kind of addictive as well,” asked Dorian Yates. Brecka agreed with the six-time Mr. Olympa. He recounted a client with the “worst” triglyceride levels he had seen so far in the thousands. “A patient whose blood was solid at room temperature,” said Brecka. The fitness coach said the man ate sugary fast food every night.

Gary Brecka told Dorian Yates that the man had more “fat in his blood than blood.” The patient had a faster metabolism and looked healthy from the outside. However, he always felt exhausted and couldn’t exercise without his fingers feeling numb. “His favorite thing was half a tub of Ben and Jerry’s at night before bed,” revealed Brecka.
The fitness trainer said he had a serious conversation with the client about the habit and put him on a “rest ketogenic diet” to recover. Brecka told Dorian Yates that if he had not done that, the man probably would’ve died. Although Yates could afford to eat more than the average fitness enthusiast, he still avoided fast food.
