Hany Rambod is one of the best bodybuilding coaches to have ever existed in the history of the sport. Apart from training elite athletes, he also runs a YouTube channel and also has a podcast The Truth, which has over 65 episodes. He invites bodybuilding legends and unravels their journey into the professional realm. While Hany Rambod has had several special guests on the show, his recent episode stands as one of the closest to his heart.

The coach with 24 Olympia titles attached to his name recently invited the 7X Mr. Olympia champion, Phil Heath to get into a candid conversation with him. As the video unfolds, the two get into reminiscing about their prime days of training and share stories of how things used to be. He begins by introducing Phil Heath and states how far back they go.

He said, “We go back till North Americans, which is August of 2005.” Heath goes on to joke how the listeners of the podcast were not even born when the encounter occurred. He added, “They were drinking their protein shakes out of a sippy cup.” The legends met for the first time at the IFBB North America.

To this, Hany Rambod adds that Phil Heath had just won the USA back then, and he was there for his trainer Omar Deckard. He still believes that Deckard should have won that year, but he didn’t. However, he makes sure to state that the following year, his trainer did indeed win the title! Hany Rambod had been Phil Heath’s mentor and was a spectator of his journey. He once even revealed how dedicated Heath was despite the many adversities he had to face in life.

Phil Heath’s journey to the top

In one of his YouTube videos, the veteran coach Hany Rambod recalled the time when he was training Phil Heath and shared how he faced so many adversities in his personal life. However, he never let any of it reflect on his professional life. In 2014, his father passed away which drained him emotionally, so much that he started hallucinating and would imagine talking to his father.

He had promised his father to win the title. He even went through a divorce right after that in 2015. Events like these could have easily brought anyone down, but for Phil Heath, nothing could divert him from his goals.
