Arnold Schwarzenegger said he bikes to Gold Gym instead of driving as it’s a “nice” cardio and warmup session. It takes him about 30 mins, and then he works out for another 30 to 45 minutes. Despite his busy schedule, the former champion’s dedication didn’t waver. “I tried to come every day… then you end up like maybe 320 days a year,” said Arnold.
After Wallace asked what Arnie’s workout routine looks like, Schwarzenegger explained the changes he made to his routine. “Well my workout is a combination that goes from one machine to the other,” said the former Mr. Universe. He used to train with free weights when he was younger. However, the Austrian Oak has switched exclusively to machines, as the risk of injury is very low.
However, the way he works out hasn’t changed in decades. The bodybuilding icon alternates between body parts. “Sometimes it’s back day, and it’s shoulders and its arms… just like in the old days,” explained Arnie. However, it “doesn’t quite feel the same anymore, like in the old days. But I mean, it’s like it’s now it’s just kind of survival,” Schwarzenegger told Wallace. Now the bodybuilding legend trains to keep what he has. While Arnie has accepted the degradation of his physical capacity, he struggled initially.
