The Giants Live Strongman Classic 2023 Championship took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 8th, 2023. The competition had a star-studded lineup, including the reigning World’s Strongest Man, Mitchell Hooper.

Eleven top athletes fought neck-and-neck for the popular title. The one-day event had five stages. It included Nicole Stone Carry, Super Yoke, Deadlift, Viking Press, and Atlas Stones. The official channel posted Mitchel Hooper’s video talking about an event. Hooper sounded very confident about being the invincible contestant.

Before the event, the official World’s Strongest Man Arenas Tour 2023 channel called giantslivestrongman posted a reel where Hooper talks about the Super Yoke event in the competition. The ‘Moose’ considers the Yoke event to be his strength. He has consistently performed very well in the events of the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic and the 2023 World’s Strongest Man.

The channel captioned The Strongman’s video clip: “Can anyone in the WORLD beat @mitchellhooper on yoke? Catch Mitch on the yoke during Event 2 of the Strongman Classic at the Royal Albert Hall.” The video of Hooper was a buildup to the event.

The confident bodybuilding expert says in the video, “Yoke, is that’s just my event. It’s just what comes naturally to me. I think we run out 2000 times over as confident as some other guys might be. I think out of 1000 times I would have 950, and the 50 that I don’t want it, it’s because I stumbled.” He further added, “But this is certainly something that I’m not sure anyone else in the world could beat me if I have a good, solid clean run.” The Canadian Strongman was right. No one could beat him!

The Yoke event is Hooper’s strength, as exemplified by the ‘Car Walk’ event in the World’s Strongest Man 2022 Championship. Now that the Giants Live event has already happened, fans can say Hooper was right to be this confident about the challenge. However, he faced a major setback.

Hooper wins the yoke but loses the championship

The Super Yoke in the Giants Live competition weighed a massive 1000 pounds and was to be carried up to 20 meters. The fastest would win the event. Mitchell Hooper aced the hurdle in 9.84 seconds and was the only man to break the ten-second barrier. Hooper consistently did well in three out of five challenges. However, he lost the championship title to Evan Singleton. The ‘Trex’ emerged as the winner after battling mental health issues in his youth.

One fan acknowledged that Hooper is the best right now, having won back-to-back 2022 and 2023 Strongman competitions, but he warned against being overconfident. He had said,” I think Mitch is the best in the world right now too – BUT DON’T JINX IT. The Gods of entertainment might just have Evan edge you out for the content it would produce.” Who would have known that the prediction would come true? Did Hooper jinx it? Share your comments.
