Several athletes from the bodybuilding world have gravitated out of the sphere, into the film industries, business, and others. One fine example is legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who emerged as one of the greatest Hollywood stars, along with his role as the former Governor of California. On a similar note, bodybuilding icon, Mike O’Hearn recently shared an honest confession about his life’s goals and how it relates to and out of the sport. 

A recent YouTube interview on his official self-titled channel featured the athlete discussing a range of topics with his fans. However, the initial bit displayed him reflecting back on his young days and how seriously he wanted to pursue bodybuilding as his career. 

Mike O’Hearn wasn’t only interested in bodybuilding

As per the interview which surfaced on the platform only 11 hours ago, the 54-year-old pro took the opportunity to recall his primary motive of stumbling into the sport. Moreover, he opened up about the compromises he made to chase his dream. O’Hearn claimed that he sacrificed his sleep, to win bodybuilding events, Judo events, work in the movies, and achieve success. This was the ultimate dream for him. 

Moreover, he stressed on the part that he never intended to limit himself to the realms of the sport. He said, “I never wanted the one dimension. I never wanted to be just a bodybuilder…” He idolized legends, Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger, heroes of two different domains. The star athlete “wanted to be a mix of those two,’ and so, his essential tasks comprised of more than just being a “cookie-cutter bodybuilder.”

As a consequence, his goals demanded more work and less sleep. “One thing that suffered was sleep,” the American pro chimed in. Besides that, he revealed that the athletes he knows, never wanted to be “full-time” bodybuilders. “most of them I know, like am friends with still to this day, are hustlers. They freaking hit it, and again if one thing suffers it is the sleep,” O’Hearn added. Safe to say, his utter dedication has helped him maintain his shredded frame while working on his other commitments. Moreover, he recently shared a piece of his staggering motivation

Earlier last month, the pro took to his Instagram to dedicate a post to individuals seeking motivation in life. He penned down a long impactful note in the caption that shared the message of zeal and determination. “Be aware that people will hate you on your way up. People will rate you. They will shake you and try to bring you down. “But how strong you stand, is what makes you,”  a part of the caption read. 

Additionally, an intriguing video was attached to the post that spotlighted his mind-blowing physique. In the video, the athlete powered through the workouts with calmness and poise, giving off tranquil vibes.

O’Hearn often enlightens his fans with mindful bits of advice and tips on life. Besides, his revelation on losing sleep was relevant to his career.
