The fitness realm is filled with people trying various variations, but sometimes they take it too far. There are several cases in which the bodybuilding enthusiast while pursuing these stunts, ends up severely injured. Despite this fact, many continue to stop trying out their own variations of basic exercises.

A similar case was shared by the bodybuilding Instagram page “generationiron.” The video shared by GI featured a netizen who was given their own spin on squats. While the squat was dangerous, this certain variation wasn’t just something that could harm the gymgoer alone.

In the video, the netizen was seen doing weighted squats, and everything seems fine if you’re far away. But as soon as you come closer, you’ll find how the person was doing a whole new kind of exercise. The guy had the barbell rod placed below his shoulders on his mid-back with his hand backward. But, that wasn’t all there was to it.

He used an immense load of weight and did quite a few reps with a whole new form. The gymgoer could have seriously injured himself and could have dislocated his shoulders. He might have torn his triceps tendons with the bar on his back instead of putting it on his shoulders. This whole lift could have been a complete disaster if the fitness enthusiast had tipped over, causing severe injuries to other gymgoers as well.

Even the bar was seen swinging on his back and could have dropped on either side and hurt others too. The gymgoer also struggled to lift the weight following this form. While the fitness enthusiast might have thought that the variation would earn him accolades, the fitness community bashed him for his antics.

Fitness fans question the efficiency of the variation

The fitness community was curious to know why the guy used this eccentric variation of the squat. One fitness enthusiast made an ironic statement and said, “No one talking about how impressive that actually is.” Another bashed the gymgoer and told him, “Just cuz you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Another bodybuilding enthusiast gave a new name to the form and said, “Triceps and shoulder dislocated squats.” One fan called the new variation “The tendon ripper.” A user asked the guy, “What is the actual point of this?” Lastly, another user questioned, “Do some guys just TRY to get injured?”

While experimenting with your workouts is good, one should ensure that this follows basic protocols of gym techniques. What do you think of the form of the person in the vide? Let us know in the comments.
