Douglas Farrell has been in Hollywood as long as Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the video, Arnie ran into Farrell as the 4’5″ tall actor was getting ready to do some chest flys. Men’s Health captured the Austrian Oak’s first reaction after meeting Farrell. “Do you believe that?” said Arnie as he didn’t expect to run into his old friend.

“I’m jealous,” said Arnie as he approached the veteran actor. Farrell also humors the 6’2 former Mr. Olympia. “The ladies like me,” he told Schwarzenegger. Farrell also cracked a joke about his height. He said the ladies like him because he is “non-threatening.” Schwarzenegger then posed with Farrell and said, “He’s one of my training partners.”

“So when I miss Franco, I need another short person,” added the bodybuilding legend. “Franco was 5’2″ – 5’3″,” said Arnie. Farrell responded that he was 4’5. However, the former Mr. Universe said the stuntman is a “powerhouse,” just like his late Italian best friend.

Franco Columbu was one of the strongest bodybuilders pound-for-pound and trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger regularly until he died in 2019. For the rest of the video, Schwarzenegger showed how his training has changed with age.

How Arnold Schwarzenegger trains at 75

The bodybuilding legend showed which exercises he performs in the gym and how they differ from his prime. One of the most significant changes the seven-time Mr. Olympia made to his routine was shifting from free weights to machines. The Hollywood action star stated that machines are safer than free weights at his age because they help prevent injuries.

However, Arnie’s exercise structure remains the same. Just like in the golden era, the 75-year-old hits every muscle group in his body to prevent imbalances. In his prime, the bodybuilding legend used to do as many as 30 sets. Now the intensity is lower. The Governator revealed he trains for 15 sets and with a much lower weight. However, he misses doing some free weight exercises like the deadlift.
