The sport of bodybuilding is an arena where people get in with the hope of building magnificent physiques. However, many of them do not consider the amount of physical investment they have to give and often do not see their desired results. Many a bodybuilder of the bygone era, as well as the present day, have given their best to the sport but have only received pain and negativity. However, not all the dedication goes in vain. The thread of winning and losing depends solely on the process undertaken by the winner and the loser. Ronnie Coleman defines the first group as being its finest example as well as definition.

Winning the title of Mr. Olympia eight consecutive times is not a matter of luck. It is certainly a result of thoroughly vigorous training and discipline wrapped with passion. However, Coleman revealed a downcast truth about his career.

In one of the interviews with Bradley Martyn on his YouTube Channel @Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk, Ronnie Coleman opened up about his amalgamated life and career. In the video, Martyn and Ronnie talked about a series of varying topics, before the legendary bodybuilding star had to face a question that required him to talk about the medical faults that came along with his journey in the bodybuilding career, and even later. Upon Bradley’s question about the amount of surgeries Ronnie had to undertake, Coleman retorted, “See 13 so far. Yeah, I’ve had eight back, three heal, two neck.”

The gravity of the situation can be understood by only noticing that Coleman continued to talk about his suffering when further questions were asked. He said with many afflictions that although these surgeries don’t have a continued pace of pain, they still have bigger effects. Coleman states sorrowfully, “My whole career has been painful, you know.”

The conversations continued to point out why the ever-smiling face of Ronnie Coleman didn’t let his fans get a hint of his sufferings.

Ronnie Coleman talks about his pain tolerance

It is not that usual a phenomenon to have 13 surgeries in one’s life. The amount and intensity of pain thus cannot be measured that easily. However, even after Ronnie’s revelation of going through a lifetime of pain in his career, he even explained how he dealt with it. Coleman stated, “Because I’m having so much fun and enjoying myself, you know. I can block it. Plus, I have a really high pain tolerance.” He further demonstrated with the example from the time he was diagnosed with a Herniated disc, he didn’t even realize it until he went home after exercising, and then took a shower, and left for work.

Coleman is undoubtedly exceptional. However, the quirks he possesses, like his pain tolerance, blow his fans’ minds extremely chaotically, making them further devote their affection and respect to the bodybuilding legend. It is no wonder that Coleman had to go through torment his whole career. However, people and fitness enthusiasts should learn from his ventures and confidence that had elevated him in the history of bodybuilding, forever.
