Famous bodybuilding legend, Tom Platz, known for his exceptional leg development and dedication to his craft, has been training intensely for a while now. His iconic leg day workouts, where he exhausted himself with tons of sets, serve as the perfect testament to his approach toward training.

However, as an athlete age, he needs to tone down a bit on the intensity to cope with the growing age. In an unfortunate turn of events, these years of fierce training finally caught up to Platz, who recently revealed in his Instagram post about a serious condition that he is going through.

In a recent video shared by Platz, he disclosed that he had suffered severe nerve damage on his face as a result of inadequate recovery and over-training. While a young athlete might get away with over-training at times, it becomes much more difficult when a person grows old.

This unexpected incident has led to one side of Platz’s face functioning less effectively than the other. “As many of you are asking what’s wrong with Tom’s face? Why is he talking like Stallone? I got sick. I was overtrained,” Platz stated in the video.

Continuing further, he stated, “It’s getting much, much better it will go away. But the nerves in my face will challenge to where my mouth doesn’t open properly as you can probably see…It’s Bell’s Palsy.” Tom’s statement serves as a reminder that even professionals can at times fall victim to the consequence of over-training and pushing your body over the limit.
