In a recent video shared by Platz, he disclosed that he had suffered severe nerve damage on his face as a result of inadequate recovery and over-training. While a young athlete might get away with over-training at times, it becomes much more difficult when a person grows old.
This unexpected incident has led to one side of Platz’s face functioning less effectively than the other. “As many of you are asking what’s wrong with Tom’s face? Why is he talking like Stallone? I got sick. I was overtrained,” Platz stated in the video.

Continuing further, he stated, “It’s getting much, much better it will go away. But the nerves in my face will challenge to where my mouth doesn’t open properly as you can probably see…It’s Bell’s Palsy.” Tom’s statement serves as a reminder that even professionals can at times fall victim to the consequence of over-training and pushing your body over the limit.

Platz continued by talking about the support that his wife is providing him in this challenging situation. The support provided by family and loved ones is something that can not be replaced by anything in the world. Despite being married twice before already, his third wife, Cha, is providing encouragement and required support to help Platz in his daily tasks.
Providing insights on the same, Tom disclosed, “Cha gave me the foodies…She changed my diet around and stuff like that. And that helped a lot when I’m on the road to recovery. And recovery is challenging. Okay, and I don’t like talk about it, but everybody’s like what’s wrong with Tom? That’s what’s wrong with me.”
