Mr. Olympia disclosed the severity of his injury during a recent YouTube Q&A session. While answering fans‘ questions, he revealed that after the incident, he went to the hospital and had a CT scan that confirmed a complete rupture of his Achilles tendon, leaving him shocked by the extent of the damage.
Initially, Buendia downplayed the severity of the injury, noting that he didn’t experience much pain immediately after the incident. However, the following day, he woke up to excruciating pain; he described it as one of the most intense sensations he had ever felt. Despite a few days passing, the discomfort persisted, and he was still in significant pain.

Buendia, known for his resilience and high pain tolerance, described the agony he endured, “I couldn’t stand up vertically or sit upright. If I were to sit in a chair with my foot on the ground or even just get up to go to the bathroom on my crutches, the amount of pressure that would build up in my lower leg felt like my leg was going to explode.” The intensity of the pain rendered him incapacitated, forcing him to spend much of his time immobilized on the couch.

Buendia shared his struggles with mobility, explaining that he couldn’t stand or sit upright for extended periods due to the intense pressure and swelling in his lower leg. The discomfort was so severe that he was confined to the couch for much of the week and could not engage in activities.
