It was a moment when all his hard work and consistency had finally paid off, bringing the title to the 225 lb icon who’s already impressed the world with his sheer excellence and unparalleled physique. And everyone and their mother can celebrate his achievement now but it was actually the legendary Jay Cutler who called it way before it manifested into existence. 

The 4 time Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler’s speculations about the Olympia came true. Derek Lunsford was the winner of the competition. But that’s not been enough for Culter. Recently. He has also been talking about the winner, shedding light on the mindset he needed to embrace to win at Mr. Olympia.  

Jay Cutler predicted a Derek Lunsford win

In a recent video uploaded by the Cutler Cast YouTube channel, Cutler along with Milos Sarcev and the host of the show Matt talked about the 2023 Olympia winner. The four-time Olympia winner seemed quite proud of the predictions he had made about Derek Lunsford. In the same conversation with bodybuilding coach, Milos Sarcev, Cutler hailed Derek for his commendable victory and expressed his desire to bring the current winner of Olympia to his show, Cutler Cast. 

Congratulating and praising Derek Lunsford, Cutler said, “Derek my hat goes off to you cuz we sat here and said why isn’t Derek in the show yeah damn he shoved it down our throats and he came and won the Olympia because that’s what he said if I I want to go to the Olympia he’s a he’s a two division champ and first ever yeah first ever which is crazy so congratulations dere I would love to hear what he has to say maybe someday we’ll get him on this podcast you know.”

The Olympia Derek Lunsford is believed to have skipped the Arnold Classic championship as he had a great love for Olympia. In bodybuilding, Lunsford might be the only muscular man who turned down the Arnold Classic to stand out in Olympia.

Lunsford credits wife for being the backbone

Derek Lunsford recalled his wife’s contribution and hailed the fact they both are going to welcome their first child on the 1st of January, 2024. Calling her the backbone of his life, he said that the pregnancy has brought them closer in their marriage. 

 “So, you would think that would be you know hindering to the prep but actually has brought us closer in our marriage and actually having her has strengthened me in this prep. So, again a lot of good things have happened this year and definitely coming back much improved more than you’ve ever seen I promise you that.”

Earlier Jay Cutler had called Derek Lunsford the winner of Mr. Olympia, long before the event took place. Naturally, both Cutler and Lunford are happy and proud of this historic win.
