If there ever was a story eerily accurate to the ‘American Dream’ that every immigrant who comes to the US aspires to live, Arnold Schwarzenegger should stand as an exemplar. When Arnold Schwarzenegger entered the US as a 21-year-old, he had barely achieved anything in his career. Decades later, he is one of the most successful bodybuilders, a movie star, and a politician. He considers himself one of the most fortunate people ever to live, but his hard work and ethics can’t be overlooked at the same time.

At 75, he still hits it hard onscreen as he gears up for his new Netflix special, FUBAR. A 3-part Netflix documentary on his life follows next. With this context, Schwarzenegger recently spoke to Parade about his life now, and where he’s at it mentally.

In a recent interview, when Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked by the reporter how has life been for him in recent times, Schwarzenegger had no complaints. Instead, the ever-so-positive man said to Parade, “Well, I would say not just lately but in general, I’ve been very, very fortunate”. He continued, “I always say that I’m the luckiest son of a bit** alive”. Schwarzenegger says with a fulfillment like nothing else.

No matter how lucky he was, no one can take away the fact that he was one of the greatest bodybuilders of his time, having won the Mr. Olympia title 7 times. He then retired from bodybuilding and found his way to Hollywood, where despite facing heavy criticism due to his accent, Schwarzenegger made it big, and by some margin. If one were to think he has achieved enough, Schwarzenegger’s hunger to do more saw him change lanes one more time in 2003.

He became the California governor and ran for two terms in office. At 75, with all those achievements behind him, he still has the same aspirations and motives as he once had as a 20-something-year-old.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘American Dream’ came true

Further in the interview, talking about his dream, Arnie said, “My dream was to come to America and be a world champion in bodybuilding and then get into the movies and be rich and famous—and that alone is a huge dream.” His happiness on becoming an American citizen in 1983 was so bright, that a picture of him wearing the Star-Spangled Banner across his body and waving an American flag exists on the Internet. He was not only wearing the flag but also a bright, wide, smile on his face.
