One of the toughest and most competitive bodybuilding champions to come out of Australia is Lee Priest. Priest was a big name in the bodybuilding circuit in the late 1990s and early 2000s, having entered the Top 10 in Arnold Classic and Mr. Olympia many times. Today, the current NABBA athlete often takes to YouTube and social media and addresses questions from fans. One question that is common is what is the difference between bodybuilding back then to what it is now? Upon addressing this question, Priest ended up calling out the general lack of effort and discipline in many of the bodybuilders.

Lee Priest recently appeared in a YouTube video by the IFBB AMA channel. There, he talked about how often bodybuilders fail to live up to the sheer demand of hard work, diet, and training required. Even though he hasn’t taken to stage professionally for 10 years now, Priest believes his work ethic is still intact.

Lee Priest recently said on the YouTube video by IFBB AMA, “Now I get asked a lot, ‘What is the difference Lee in bodybuilding back in your time and now?'” Priest understood the query and then explained that if at all things were to remain the same, it was to maintain the same standard, then there shouldn’t have been any difference. However, there is a difference.

Priest then continues, “Bodybuilding is bodybuilding”, explaining that the core of the sport remains the same. He then says, “But, the big but… when I look at the people who are riding this, generally half of them don’t have the genetics, they don’t have it up here (points to the brain) or they don’t have the heart. They are willing to do what it takes… train f*cking hard. Do you puke, do you sick, not go out…”

Lee Priest believes that change is easy, but bodybuilders need to do it

Lee Priest put everything in perspective as to why some people struggle and others often excel. The answer is simple and Priest just presented it without any facade of diplomacy or cunningness. He was straight as an arrow. Priest was basically explaining how the solution to all such problems lies right in front of people, more often than not. Eating well, training routinely, good sleep, and repeating the pattern is something that can go a long way in helping any bodybuilder in the world.

Priest has forever been vocal about things that he strongly believes in. He even once advocated removing Mr. Olympia 212 category from the competitions and also urged women strongly to speak up about transgender matters. However, as far as helping modern-day bodybuilders with a stern message on hard training is concerned, Priest has always maintained that.
