One of the most fun sections of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s daily newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, is the “Q&A with Arnold”. The 75-year-old bodybuilding veteran is always up for a conversation with his fans, and no question regarding training and exercise is off-limits. In a recent Q&A interaction, Schwarzenegger was asked a simple question about stretching and whether or not he includes it before and after his workout sessions. Schwarzenegger’s answer to that had a lot to do with his multiple surgeries throughout his life.

While Schwarzenegger denied doing any stretching before workouts, he does do seemingly lighter exercises. This is because his body could only take as much after the multiple heart surgeries he’s gone through. However, his friends are still beyond impressed with his flexibility at 75.

In the latest edition of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daily newsletter, he is dealing with three topics – “How to strengthen your routine,” “Weekend Challenge,” and “Arnold Q&A”. One of the questions a fan asked him in the Q&A section was, “Can you talk about your routine for stretching before and after the workouts?” unaware at the time if Schwarzenegger still stretches or not.

Schwarzenegger responds, “I don’t stretch before I train. I prefer light warmup sets. After I train, I normally stretch but just basic things. I touch my toes, I put my foot on a machine for more hamstring stretch”. Schwarzenegger, at 75 years of age, still regularly goes to the gym and works out in order to get pumped. However, even the 7x Mr. Olympia cannot deny the toll his body would take when stretching after training.

This is especially true given his multiple heart surgeries. But despite all that, Schwarzenegger’s flexibility is still something that impresses a lot of people, including his two friends.

He is still extremely fit for his age

Schwarzenegger answering the question about stretching, added that his friends, “Adam and Daniel say I’m too flexible for my age. I believe that’s because I stretch in every exercise by using full range”. While he may not do it before or after a workout, his exercise itself involves a tremendous amount of stretching. Hence, he is able to move his body parts in any range of motion. Those who believe it first-hand are Adam Bornstein and Daniel Ketchell, both editors-in-chief of Arnold’s Pump Club.
