Obesity has been rising at an alarming rate in recent times, with statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention implying that four out of ten Americans are obese. The sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy food habits of the Gen Z are mostly blamed for the situation. But the world is not devoid of individuals who have embarked on the weight loss journey and stunned the fitness community with results. Leah Hope is one of them who set out on a fitness journey last year and lost 185 lbs.

A trip to Disneyland with family turned out to be a life-changing moment for the 34-year-old who shared her incredible weight transformation journey with People.

The turning point in Leah Hope’s fitness journey

Hope weighed around 400 lbs in March 2022 but never felt the need to lose weight until she went on a trip to Disneyland with her sister, nephew, and brother-in-law. “I have been overweight, morbidly obese for most of my life, and I was comfortable in my discomfort basically because it was all that I knew,” Hope confessed

During the trip, she couldn’t tolerate the heat and experienced a severe migraine that was enhanced due to her weight. Hope realized that she needed to work on her condition to ensure she had more moments with her young nephew. “My nephew is my favorite person in the world, and being an aunt has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” she stated.

He is a huge reason why I wanted to get healthier and be a better version of myself,” the 34-year-old told People while revealing the motivation for her fitness journey. But what helped Leah Hope in her 185 lbs weight loss transformation? 

Leah Hope weighed consistency over trending fads

Weight loss fads are not new in the fitness market. Pilates, running, gym, diets, yoga, and many others come to the fore when there is a discussion on fitness. But the key to a fit life is consistency. Leah Hope focused on being consistent in her fitness journey, and the results were evident. 

Starting from a 10-minute walk at a time, Hope added 8000 steps to her daily fitness routine. She focused on eating nutritious and healthy and wrote her calorie intake in a food journal. Her efforts eventually brought the desired results.
