The history of bodybuilding as a sport is intertwined with the genesis of the Mr. Olympia Competition. The Canadian bodybuilder and fitness sultan, Joe Weider, envisaged a bodybuilding competition that would help popularise the discipline of bodybuilding. Since then, many elite athletes like Arnold SchwarzeneggerRonnie Coleman, Frank Zane, and Lee Haney have participated in the sports.
