Strongman beast Hafthor Bjornsson had a major setback in his Bodybuilding career last year when he suffered from a horrific pec tear. He was competing at a powerlifting meet in his Iceland gym in April 2023 when his pec tapped out. However, after a successful surgery and a prolonged period of recovery, he is now all geared up for the Arnold Classic 2024.
His preparation has been insane getting back at the gym and hitting new records. In one of his recent posts, he was seen benching 340 lbs, making his fans and followers go crazy!
Hafthor Bjornsson comes back with a bang!

Hafthor Bjornsson, widely known as the Mountain, recently took to his official Instagram account and shared a fitness update. In a video, he was seen effortlessly pulling out three sets that consisted of three reps of incline bench presses with a whopping 341 lbs with a body weight of 421 lbs.

The video is a standing testament to the level of hard work he has been putting in to get back and his unwavering dedication to stick to his passion, despite the huge setback. Hafthor Bjornsson is soon to appear on the Arnold Classic stage. He has also suggested that he will be making an attempt to hit an 1146 lbs Elephant Bar Deadlift on the stage and wishes to make a new world record.

Well, the entire fitness community is indeed waiting for his comeback, and the announcement has got them pretty excited. However, apart from his determination to religiously hit the gym, there is one more thing that Bjornsson thinks helped him speed up his progress. Here’s what he is grateful for.

Hafthor Bjornsson credits his muscle memory
While getting back to the gym was paramount, his undying love for bodybuilding did not take him long to hit the gym. However, he thinks it was his muscle memory that helped him a lot. He also shared one of his lifts, intending to demonstrate that he was doing a lot better, performing a set of clean and jerk. During his initial days after the surgery, hitting the gym made him struggle.

He could barely pull out a rep of 331 lbs bar. But, he has had years of training, which helped him develop an exceptionally strong muscle connection. He believes that is what made him effortlessly pull out four reps of the same weight, and that was a huge achievement for him. His continuous effort to make amends with what he loves has indeed paid off. Now, he is just a few steps away from making an impactful presence on the stage of Arnold Classic 2024.
