Starting a weight loss journey is not easy and demands commitment, patience, dedication, and persistence. Only going to the gym is never going to be enough as this is also a humongous mental battle. Dave Danna is one such example of a man who dared to change his life and over time, was successful in doing so, and when he did he got a special mention from the Terminator himself.

This “village” member of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s newsletter club had aspired to be a model as a 400-pound man. He was also confronted with the risks of potential health risks, so at the age of 30 he started his weight loss journey. He recently took to Twitter and spoke about how being a success story in the gym changed his perception of fitness.

Eager to lose weight and gain physical strength, he discovered the 7-time Mr Olympia’s daily newsletter and became an important member of Arnold’s health village. Advice from Arnie himself helped Danna lose 100lbs which boosted his confidence; something he talked about on Twitter recently.

Danna reminisced about his past and posted before and after pictures on Twitter of side by side showing his transformation. He wrote, “I thought the gym would be mainly for burning calories, turns out it’s far more important to me for my mental health, building routine, and starting the day off with a positive productive accomplishment (I go before work!)”

He also made a thread about the mental and physical changes that came into his life due to the gym culture. Danna finished off paying his credit card debt and saved more than $7K which he used to spend on Doordash earlier. He started cooking food and bought less processed food. Danna also got engaged after a year of dating and went back to his spiritual path. He even got promoted at work due to his fixed routine and good mental and physical health which makes him more proactive. All in all the gym life has transformed his life for the better.

For several years he bore the stress and weight of obesity and felt trapped. Entering the gym was also stressful because he was 400 pounds and thought of all the comments people would pass. He said, “I was embarrassed I didn’t know what I was doing in the gym as a 30-year-old man.”

But the one thing that truly helped him push through lose weight and change his lifestyle was Arnie, who personally complimented him on his reps. As a result of that, Danna has, “done over 1,200 reps and lifted over 80,000lbs so far.”
