Although the trade took place years ago, the 29-year-old star shared a post featuring a glimpse of Bett’s finesse, and the caption of the post described the details of the trade. As per reports, the Boston Red Sox received severe flak for the exchange since the athlete led them to the 2018 World Series and was actively contributing to the team’s success.

Despite that and also winning MVP in 2018, they traded him for 27-year-old outfielder Alex Verdugo. The precise trade involved The Dodgers acquiring Mookie Betts, LHP David Price, and additional capital benefits in exchange for OF Alex Verdugo, minor league IF Jeter Downs, and minor league C Connor Wong. In 1920, he was also sold by the Red Sox to the New York Yankees for the then-highest price in the sport. This led to a repercussion in the MLB world that exists to date.

How the Boston Red Sox emerged as rivals to the New York Yankees

One of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in the sport is between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. For over a century, the two teams have expressed their dislike for each other. However, there’s a solid reason that added more fuel to this rivalry. In 1919, Red Sox owner Harry Frazee traded baseball great Babe Ruth to their rivals for the highest bid, worth $125,000 in cash.
