Johnson’s trainer said, “I think these kind of human powered treadmills are the future of treadmills because they’re way cheaper and you have to work way harder. You now have, this is maybe the most potent knee rehab tool there is a human powered backward treadmill. This is just trying to make it the cheapest, simplest it can possibly be to go backward.”

It’s a simple way to make exercise more fun. As Bryan’s trainer pointed out, “A lot of people have gotten off painkillers by going for five to ten minutes backward on their treadmill, not turned on.” It’s not only affordable but also effective. Johnson’s top priority right now is to live as long as he can.

During a recent interview with TIME, he revealed that he takes 111 pills every day. In addition, he utilizes several health monitoring gadgets to keep tabs on his well-being. His routine includes wearing a baseball cap emitting red light onto his scalp, collecting his own stool samples, and sleeping with a small device attached to his p*nis to monitor nighttime erections. Not just this, this dedicated bio hacker to achieve the physique of an 18-year-old, has an unusual mantra he recites every time he gets behind the wheel.

From tech success to lifelong pursuit: The unconventional path of Bryan Johnson

In his thirties, Mr. Johnson amassed his wealth by selling his payment processing firm, Braintree Payment Solutions, to eBay for a whopping $800 million in cash. Notably, the Chief Marketing Officer of his tech company, Kate Tolo, has also embraced the Blueprint lifestyle.

Before driving away from his home, he recites his pre-driving mantra to himself, “Driving is the most dangerous thing we do.” Despite being a person who has marketed T-shirts with the slogan “Don’t die” and invests up to $2 million annually in his unique health program known as Blueprint, Johnson is acutely conscious of the irony if he were to be involved in a car accident. He said, “What would be more beautiful irony than me getting hit by a bus and dying?”
