Years before Arnold Schwarzenegger made his debut on the big screen, he did not mind fending for himself by doing odd jobs. Early in his career, after the bodybuilding legend had just moved to the U.S., he had a successful bricklaying side gig going on. Moreover, Arnie was not alone in his endeavor, as his long-time buddy and bodybuilder, Franco Columbu, also partnered with him.
Recalling the unique phase of his life, Arnold recently shared a picture on Instagram. It displayed the star athlete amid construction work. However, there was a catch. The picture was edited and shared as an ad for a German company.

Hence, insinuating the edited version, Arnie asked his fans to sport the difference from the original photo. The post?s caption read: “Can you spot what wasn?t part of the original photo?” Evidently, the screwdriver in the athlete?s hand, masterfully edited, was not present in the actual snap, as many fans correctly guessed.
Quite interestingly, Arnie did not fail to thrive in the construction business as well. He teamed up with Columbu as the ?European bricklayers and masonry experts? and put up an ad in esteemed newspapers, per sources. Business was booming, and a big earthquake in L.A. bolstered their success in the field. Hence, before even making it big in Hollywood, Arnold was thriving in life. The star athlete even made his first million while doing the job.
Schwarzenegger and Columbu became millionaires
After moving to America, the Austrian Oak was determined to earn money. Hence, putting an eye out for any and every work that could be done, the athlete got into the bricklaying business with Columbu. The Italian bodybuilder was quite skilled in the field; as Arnie once acknowledged, ?Franco?s talent was to be a bricklayer, a very skilled bricklayer.??

The late athlete had learned the art of laying bricks in Italy and Germany; thus, he was a quality addition to Arnold’s master plan. The duo gave tough competition to others in the field by offering their services at a much lower cost. Eventually, they established themselves as “European bricklayers and masonry experts.” After the earthquake in L.A., it was only upward for the duo, who made their first millions through their humble business.
