In the bodybuilding world, where people praise fit bodies and often accuse others of using drugs, the real story often hides. Recently, popular bodybuilder and influencer Shizzy Tuff, better known as Shizzy Twizzy, shed light on the profound personal experiences that contributed to his journey, and perhaps, to some of the choices he made along the way.

Tuff grew up in a family of six in Rochester, New York’s South Wedge, a notably impoverished neighborhood, and he recalls snippets of hardship. Disturbingly, one of the games he remembered playing involved cockroaches. “We used to play with the cockroaches in our house,” he reminisced. Such anecdotes hint at the kind of deprivation Tuff and his siblings faced.
His father’s absence was a significant void in his life, but it wasn’t just due to his not being there. Alcoholism plagued the man, escalating into violent tendencies. Especially troubling were the accounts of his father’s violence toward the women in the family. “I have like memories of him like beating my sisters like he never would touch us kids like boys like he would spank us but he was so violent to my sisters and my mom” While Tuff and his male siblings were sometimes subjected to their father’s aggression, it was the women who bore the brunt.
Recalling the heart-wrenching scenes from his past, Tuff revealed, “He would throw my mom down the stairs all the time.” This tumultuous environment left its mark on young Tuff, molding his perception of normalcy. Consequently, he found himself shoplifting as a child. “We’d go to grocery stores, and I would steal. I was in first grade,” Tuff admitted, acknowledging that he didn’t fully understand his actions at that time.
From childhood traumas to bodybuilding accusations
For many, the narrative of a troubled childhood escalating into a life of crime and addiction isn’t uncommon. For Tuff, accusations of steroid use have been a recurring theme in his career. While he didn’t explicitly link his past traumas to substance use. One can’t help but ponder if the weight of these memories contributed to any subsequent drug addiction.
