Vaillant also revealed  that he was “Trying to lose weight this off-season as I can’t afford to push the scale anymore. Every time I go over 290 I can’t get my BP down in the 120s easily. I did the same before the Arnold and was still at my best ever!” Interestingly, Vaillant’s journey began at the age of 15, inspired by bodybuilding magazines.

He recalls how amazed he was after witnessing the physiques of Mr. Olympia‘s athletes. “I researched on the internet using an old PC with a dial-up connection. I found bodybuilding message boards and learned and learned,” Vaillant had said during an interview. This early fascination with the sport motivated him to start training, initially with just one dumbbell in his bedroom.

By 2004, Vaillant was ready to compete. Despite never having trained in a gym before, he joined a local facility and informed the owner of his competitive ambitions. Remarkably, a year later, he competed at 16 and won his class. Reflecting on this period, he shares, “I did this all by myself. It gave me great satisfaction and self-empowerment. So I kept doing it.” Vaillant’s determination paid off in 2012 when he earned his IFBB pro card at the Canadian Nationals.

Despite the successes, Vaillant’s journey was not without its struggles. Personal challenges led him to separate from the competitive arena, but later, he teamed up with Dorian Hamilton and Team HD, relocating to Burlington, Ontario. Under their guidance, Vaillant reignited his passion for the sport, culminating in a triumphant return at the 2018 Toronto Pro Show where he placed 4th.

Despite winning his pro card in 2012, Vaillant’s first appearance on the Olympia stage wasn’t until 2020, where he was placed 14th. He participated again in 2022 but didn’t make the top 10 list. Yet, his resilience and commitment to improvement remain unwavering.
