The Strongman championships are usually a stage for elite bodybuilders to demonstrate their strength and power through a series of intense challenges. These include lifting colossal weights, dragging and loading heavy stones, and squatting, all while executing feats of pure might. The mind and the will are the primary characteristics required for any athletic endeavor and, well, these two elements are what made Hafthor Bjornsson, the World’s Strongest Man, stand out. 

However, despite winning the title in 2018, Hafthor Bjornsson decided to take a break for a while. Looks like three years later, he is back with a bang again. Weeks before the Arnold Classic 2024, he is again all set to break his record!

Hafthor Bjornsson’s desire to get better at the Natural Stone Overhead Press

Hafthor Bjornsson has not only managed to acquire the title of one of the best strength athletes in the history of bodybuilding but has several other world records attached to his name. Among these records, one of his favorite records was the Natural Stone overhead press, where he lifted a whopping 302 lbs. He is now preparing to beat that!

The Strongman champion took to his official Instagram account and shared a video where he is seen practicing his stone overhead reps with a 260 lb stone. He even mentions that throwing stones around is one of his favorite hobbies and wishes to perfect the art of it. 

Speaking about his determination to achieve his goal, he wrote, “Stones overhead has always been my thing. 118kg overhead. I will conquer my 137kg stone soon. Stay strong 🫡”. Well, he continues to lift weights ahead of the Arnold Classic.

Bjornsson’s much-awaited comeback

Hafthor Bjornsson is making progress with his training sessions. A few days ago, he shared a 970 lbs Elephant bar deadlift. Even though this is far less than what he used to lift in his prime days, this new accolade is a sign of his comeback. Sharing all the snippets from his regimes, he is hyping the already awaited moment of his return to the Strongman stage.

However, before he steps on to the Strongman championship this year, he is all set to take away the breath of the fitness community in the Arnold Classic, and his pace of improvement serves as enough evidence of it.
