The fitness world often finds newly joined members who lose their motivation and stop coming to the gym thinking about the struggles they have previously faced there. However, the bodybuilding beast, Lee Priest, has something else to attribute as a hard part, which is not the workout sessions but rather about going to the gym itself.

Giving his own example of how Priest often goes to the gym for a light workout, he emphasized the fact that it is not important to make records at all times. Instead, he suggested that if someone is making it to the gym, they are already making huge progress in their fitness journey.

In his latest Instagram reel, Lee Priest decided to talk about the necessity of reaching the gym rather than working out hard. He observed that as long as one turns up at the gym, the process after can be ‘whatever’. He stated, “You still went to the gym, you still trained, you still turned up. You went to the gym. If you turn up and go to the gym, you do a bit of cardio, train, which makes you a winner. Cause just getting there is the hard part. Once you are there, do whatever.”

Priest pointed out that going to the gym and doing the most intensive workouts is not the only way of doing fitness. Priest pointed out that doing light workouts and cardio would not make them lose muscle. Instead, he suggested that people can go to the gym just to do a simple workout, which would be more like a realistic goal rather than motivating oneself to do a hard workout only to give up later.

Lee Priest also talked about the leniency needed in one’s fitness journey. He mentioned that a bodybuilder should still be able to enjoy the holiday season and get a breather from the strict rules one prescribes for a bodybuilder.

Lee Priest asked bodybuilders to enjoy holidays

The winner of the IFBB Ironman Pro in 2006 observed that in case a bodybuilder desires to maintain a shredded figure, even in the off-season, they should not overlook the little joys of the holiday season. In Fact, Priest confessed to regretting him not doing the same in his competitive days. Thus, he suggested, “If you have a plan, take your food with you.” He also reflected that one should make minor adjustments. Then Priest said, “One little day or meal isn’t going to destroy your contest prep at all. Mentally, it could. If you’re not strong-minded, you might think, oh, God, I cheated on my diet physically. It’s more of a mental thing.”

It is not easy to make up one’s mind to go to the gym regularly and train as intensely as one can. Priest understands that bodybuilders often find it hard to even go to the gym or if one’s extremely strict with their routine, they would find it hard to sever it even when it’s festive times. Thus, the experienced bodybuilder explained that a little leniency on oneself would not hurt any of their progress or promises.
