Tom Cruise will be remembered as the greatest action hero that ever lived with his movies, often depicting otherworldly stunts in his Mission Impossible franchise. The high action standards demand his co-actors to be fit to match the highest-paid Hollywood actor’s energy. Simon Pegg, who reprised his role as Benji Dunn in the latest installment of the series, made honest revelations about his fitness journey. 

The 53-year-old English actor opened up about his association with Tom Cruise’s action flick, made his approach, and imbibe a healthy lifestyle, in a recent GQ interview.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One hit the theatre on July 12th and features Tom Cruise pulling off the biggest stunt ever witnessed in the series. However, his companions in the film are no less on fire in their action-packed sequences. From Greg Tarzan Davis to Simon Pegg got themselves into shape to unveil the action on screen.

Spilling beans on how the series helped him with fitness, Pegg confessed, “Mission Impossible is responsible for getting me into fitness in my later life.” Revealing the moment that changed his life, the 53-year-old actor confessed, “When you look at me in Mission Impossible 3, I literally look like a potato in a cardigan, so when it came to do Ghost Protocol, I kinda just discovered the gym.

The franchise didn’t give much option for Pegg to say no to any action sequence. “You have to just allow it, ” he confessed. He got himself a trainer and underwent rigorous training to ace his scenes in the movie. His trainer Nick Lower once confessed about the bizarre workout Pegg got into.

The COVID-19 pandemic got people to limit their life to the four walls. With the lockdown in place, hitting gyms is next to impossible during the pandemic. However, Pegg didn’t retire from his fitness routine and invented a unique way to get his workout done.

Simon Pegg trained under Nick Lower through Zoom Calls. However, Pegg would be unable to find equipment to work out during his hotel stays. So, he would use all he could find in his surroundings. “I seem to remember, he actually grabbed a marble tabletop and used it as a weight,” said Lower once, about Pegg.
