Flex Wheeler shared glimpses of the hard life he faced after losing his one leg and how he overcame these difficulties. He highlighted how he achieved remarkable success in bodybuilding and gained popularity for his incredibly amazing physique.

However, Wheeler faced an unimaginable challenge when he lost a leg. This setback initially left him feeling isolated and vulnerable. But instead of retreating from the world, he felt a responsibility to open up about his tough experience so he could help others who were facing the same issues.

Flex Wheeler opened up about his hurdles after leg amputation

In a recent podcast NASM-CPT with Dr. Rick Richey, Wheeler, came forward to talk about his struggles after losing his one leg. The Sultan of Symmetry began his bodybuilding training at 13. After dominating the competitive arena for several years, due to health issues, he left competing. The most disastrous thing happened to him when his blood clot and kidney failure led to the partial amputation of his right leg. Now, he’s been vocal about his story and trying to encourage and motivate others.

During their conversation, Dr. Richey said, “I appreciate that in you and knowing that you know one of the ways to help turn that lemon into lemonade is to help other people in that process.” Wheeler responded to the Dr. by saying, “Yeah, um, it is, and I think it’s it’s very therapeutic um, you know for me, you know, again, I don’t think I’ve been allowed um that God allowed me to achieve such greatness, uh and have it be globally broadcasted around the world.”

The 58 year0old continued, And then I run and hide, you know, when, when a worse, I think, Unthinkable thing happens. So that’s just what I’m trying to do now.” He explained in the video that he uses his amputation “as an ice breaker,” because he often saw people curious to know what happened to him.

His mission is to help others

He explained further in the podcast that he was determined to provide the necessary help and make life easier for people who lost their legs. He wants to show how hard it can be. The simpler things look like a bigger problem. Everyday chores like driving a car or getting dressed, became really tough.
