The 50-year-old initially worked in concrete and struggled with irregular meals, but learned to “fuel his body” with six meals daily. According to this throwback snippet, Cutler didn’t mess around when it came to staying hydrated. He mixed up a concoction of Crystal light, not just in one but two containers, and poured it into a small jug, diluting it with water.
His dedication was evident as he incorporated glutamine into his routine, taking it with every meal. He stated, “I even mix my protein powders with diet Mountain Dew sometimes, which sounds a little crazy, but sometimes you don’t eat for taste.” He continued and confessed, “I just eat for fuel. That’s it. I eat to get big. I don’t care what it tastes like. I mean, I burn my egg whites. Boy, if I even cheat on my diet with pizza, I prefer it burnt. Anything for calories.” He was focused on consuming the nutrients needed to get big and stay big.
Eating for fuel rather than taste became his mantra. His extreme protein intake, coupled with unconventional dietary choices, played a crucial role in sculpting the physique that earned him four Mr. Olympia titles. Earlier, the King of bodybuilding supported the idea that “eating big to get big” was the only way to maintain a giant physique even during the off-season.
