The six-time Mr. Olympia shared his perspective on weight training. Where many athletes strive for the glory of lifting heavy weights, Dorian Yates chose a different path. Dorian Yates, who revolutionized the world of bodybuilding, is known for his astonishing physique and discipline. He began weightlifting during his time in the juvenile center. This practice intrigued him to pursue a bodybuilding career.

Despite lifting heavy weights even before competing, he focused on muscle building and strength, instead, choosing the one-rep max record. In his recent social media post he revealed his technique and guided people to train smartly.

According to his Instagram post, unlike others who push their selves to the limit with single heavy lifts, Yates believed the risk outweighed the rewards for bodybuilding purposes. He always had a goal to become a bodybuilder, he didn’t delve into weightlifting.

 

The Mass Monster was solely focused on building muscles. He didn’t care much about “I never went for a 1 rep max, ever!” He was determined to make his muscles stronger and bigger over the years. He further added, “I’ve said it many times, leave your ego at the door! Work the muscle, not your ego.” He believed that if you sacrifice how you lift just to impress others with heavy lifting, you’re not really helping your muscles grow.

According to the Shadow, do the workout with clarity and keep the good form if you aim to become a bodybuilder. The self-made bodybuilder has been sharing his experience through his Instagram account, once, he admitted that he never trained under a coach and never had a nutritionist to help him build the body for competitions.

Despite training alone, Yates  achieved success

He won six consecutive titles with no external help. It was only he who trained himself with the help of bodybuilding magazines and books. He even never had a nutritionist. He wrote in his Instagram post that he wasn’t into team sports, he liked doing things on his own. He learned everything by himself with the help of bodybuilding books and magazines.

Yates wrote in his caption about him not having a coach or training partner because “I never really enjoyed team sports!” He said “I never had a coach. I wanted to do it myself and learn from my mistakes.” said the Mass Monster. He always preferred to take accountability for his mistakes. Despite training alone, he first entered the British Championship in 1986, winning the heavyweight class but narrowly missing the overall title. At present, Yates is the owner of four Temple Gyms in the UK.
