Arnold Schwarzenegger reigned multiple arenas in his lifetime, establishing an unparalleled legacy. The 76-year-old is a bodybuilding legend, Hollywood’s action superstar, and was also the Governor of California for two terms. While bodybuilding fans knew about his onstage rivalry with Sergio Oliva, his movie admirers witnessed his feud with Sylvester Stallone.

The 7x Mr. Olympia Champion opened up about his relationship with Stallone in his book Total Recall in 2012. The 76-year-old recounted how he got involved in a feud with Sly to reign the movie arena in the 1980s.

The Austrian Oak always aimed to be the best in everything he did. From lifting heavy weights at the gym to performing high-intense action stunts in the movies, Arnie stretched his limits to be Number 1. However, by the time he transitioned to the cinema arena from bodybuilding, Stallone was already ruling as an action hero. So Arnie resolved to surpass the Rocky star.

While narrating the feud, the Terminator icon recollects in his book, “I remember saying to Maria when I made Conan the Destroyer, “I’m finally getting paid a million dollars for a movie, but now Stallone’s making three million. I feel like I’m standing still.

So, to become the best in his industry, he started competing with Stallone at all levels. “To energize myself, I’d envisioned Stallone as my archenemy, just like I had demonized Sergio Oliva when I was trying to take the Mr. Olympia crown,” the bodybuilding icon confessed in his autobiography. However, the feud ended in 1991, as both Hollywood legends joined hands for a business venture, Planet Hollywood, and are now good friends.

Arnold Schwarzenegger left his Hollywood career for politics in the early 2000s. After being elected as the Governor of California, the 76-year-old relentlessly worked for the welfare of the citizens. Stallone was invited to the election campaigns, and the Rambo star donated $15,000 to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s re-election campaign.

Despite being on a hectic schedule as a governor of an American state, Schwarzenegger made a cameo appearance in the 2010 Stallone’s directorial venture, The Expendables. Arnie later played a crucial part in the subsequent installments of the series. They also starred together in Escape Plan in 2013.
