The rivalry between the King of bodybuilding and his successor, the 4X Mr. Olympia champion Jay Cutler, is one of the biggest ones in the realm. After primarily wanting to dethrone Ronnie Coleman, who had been on a winning spree, Jay Cutler won his first title. The win came after losing for three consecutive years, making the victory sweeter.

Although they are rivals, Jay Cutler started with Ronnie Coleman as an idol, and even after years of their retirement, the two still have a mutual understanding. They both use their social media accounts to share acquired knowledge of fitness. While Ronnie Coleman is a believer in super sets, Jay Cutler never implemented them, and recently he revealed why.

Jay Cutler recently took to his official Instagram account and shared a video revealing why he was never a fan of supersets. He began the video by saying that he has always been a high-volume trainer. So the bodybuilding legend’s primary focus was always performing 29 sets per body part, which was what made it hard to put back sets.

Adding to that, Cutler always trained alone, and supersets are impossible to do alone. He said, “I train solo, I think it’s a little harder to do super sets without a  training partner or someone there to really kind of push you through.” Although the 40-year-old accepted that super sets are a great way to bring versatility to the routine, it never worked for him.
