4x Mr.Olympia Jay Cutler, often expresses his thoughts on bodybuilding and its legends. And when it comes to icons he admires, Dorian Yates is definitely on the list.  Cutler went on record to say he would prefer Dorian Yates over Ronnie Coleman, as he feels Yates competed against strong contenders when compared to Coleman. “DorianYates, I would say, he freaked me out more than Ronnie Coleman did,” Cutler revealed in one of his Cutler Cast episodes.

And now, the 49-year-old credits Yates for one of his favorite exercises. Cutler in one of his TikTok videos stated that he learned a back exercise by observing Yates in his prime. Having benefited from the workout he now wants his fans to give it a try!

Cutler’s ripped physique is a result of his rigorous workout sessions and the legend is not taking it lightly. The ace bodybuilder posted a video of him, explaining a workout he learned from ‘The Shadow’ in 1995. Cutler is a keen observer and an enthusiastic learner. He reveals that he often pays attention to people in the gym so that he could learn something new.

 “I actually learned this exercise from Dorian Yates when I was in Hawaii in 1995, guest posing with him, I watched how he trained!” he says at the start of the video before moving on to the workout part. While giving an example of what he meant, he says”It’s a pulldown bar! What I do is I do kind of a neutral grip, I don’t go wide, I go pretty like beyond the shoulder width and what I try is to keep the legs back.”

He compares the exercise with a pullover movement, except without the pullover part. “It’s really just stretching the chest, so what I do is like I kind of hook the bar with my fingers and I let the weight kind of pull  and stretch the whole chest area.” He pulled the weighted bar just down to his jaw, squeezing his chest. He suggested 3 sets of 12 repetitions to see great results. “Awesome movement make sure you guys try it” he concluded. Keen on sharing his learning with his fans, Cutler once shared a post on Instagram talking about the best technique to develop a flawless back with strong muscles.

Overall, Cutler keeps continuing his contributions to the bodybuilding community even after retiring from the competitive arena a decade back.
