The Mr. Olympia championship is one of the most prestigious and decorated events in the world of bodybuilding. With the 2023 Olympia championship that just wrapped up a few days ago, the entire community is completely pumped up with the results of Derek Lunsford winning the title this year, defeating Hadi Choopan.

Despite the fact that the entire show was a complete treat to watch for the audience, bodybuilders who have retired think otherwise. Not every bodybuilder was at his best on the show this year, and Jay Cutler unveiled why during a recent podcast.

Jay Cutler unravels the mystery of bodybuilders not being at their best

Jay Cutler shared a discussion round on Cutler Cast with his manager Matt Daniels and IFBB Pro Coach, Milos Sarcev and put it up on his YouTube channel @cutlercast. They spoke about bodybuilding genius Derek Lunsford winning the title of Mr. Olympia 2023. However, Jay Cutler believes that they could have done better, each one of the athletes.

He goes on to say how he would not go over 3 or 4 meals before hitting the stage. However, this was not what the competitors followed this year. He said, “I think having six meals, seven meals, eight whatever it is, I guarantee all these guys are on six for sure.” According to him, it’s a little too much because it is hard to take in, especially when one is refeeding themselves.

He adds, “Because most people aren’t, they’re not depleting during this phase like the last day. You’re going to get some fluid retention, no matter what, with that much carbs, right? I mean let’s be real about it.” Following him, even the IFBB Pro coach narrates the story of competing during his prime days.

Milos Sarcev talks about the time he worked with Dennis James

Milos Sarcev begins by stating that during his competing days, the shows were not held late, 10:30 at night, but rather the prejudging began at 12 noon. He says, “I tell you this, last time was like 2001. I was preparing um Dennis James, and he was doing something. That was the time he said, “Mr. Milos, is there anything I can do to make myself even better?”

He suggested James abide strictly by the timing, and blinked at him saying, he knows what must be taken 45 minutes before he gets on to the stage, and that will help him get the best out of his body.
