At the of 61, many will retire and try to rest, but Yates is determined to not give up, he himself trained. He also provides training to aspiring bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts.

Yates has been posting some of his old workout videos on his social media. He’s sharing his legacy and the knowledge he gained over the years. Recently, he posted a video of himself working out in the gym he can be seen doing biceps curls with fellow fitness enthusiasts.

Dorian Yates shared a nostalgic video to help others

In this Instagram video, he gave a lot of helpful advice. He captioned the video, “Absolute failure”. During the video, he delved into the importance of failure while exercising. Furthermore, six-time Mr. Olympia demonstrated by saying, you’re lifting the weight, but it’s getting really hard, and you can’t lift it anymore. At that point, if someone helps you lift it to the top, you can then lower it by yourself. You might be able to do this for about three reps.

Bodybuilding legend said, “So my thing is exhaust everything it’s totally f*cked you. You can’t lift, you can’t lower it, you can’t lift it. It’s a total failure if you do that once on an exercise then time to move on”. He explained that when you can’t lift or lower it anymore, that’s when you know it’s time to move on.

He emphasized that before diving into the intense workout session, always starts with warm-up sets. It helps you boost your energy and also prevents you from further injuries. While lifting heavy weights, one needs to prepare oneself mentally until one physically fails. Accepting the failure will motivate you to push your limits.

His belief is that you should mentally prepare before beginning exercise

He advocates, “To go beyond failure, I utilized techniques such as rest pauses, forced reps, and extra negatives.” Total failure in workouts can help you grow huge muscles. This technique helps you to push your limits. This unpopular trick is not just for the bodybuilders, it can be beneficial for the other athletes as well.
