Despite being at the tough age of 54, O’Hearn ensures to train almost regularly and has made a significant place in the fitness industry. O’Hearn has been preaching the importance of longevity in one’s fitness journey for a while now. And in his recent YouTube video in which UFC veteran Josh Barnett features, the duo shared the secret behind their applaudable physiques despite being in their late 40s and 50s.
Barnett brought his son as well while meeting O’Hearn. Both advanced lifters taught Barnett’s son and their audience about the crucial role of the mind-muscle connection in achieving desired results.

O’Hearn and Barnett both attribute a significant part of their progress to the practice of cultivating a mind-muscle connection. O’Hearn explained that this is the biggest reason for the stark differences between the results of two different athletes. The duo also explained that tweaking angles also help to feel the rep even better, resulting in an improved mind-muscle connection.
Continuing further, Mike O’Hearn added, “Everybody trains the same. I do the bench press; I do the flies. And if I’m doing dumbbells, I’ll even cut it short, right? It’s that minor stuff that you don’t think about, and that’s why I can still lift today. Even though I was lifting with your father 35 years ago…it’s the little details.”
In this era of digital media, youngsters are often obsessed with quick fixes and shortcuts to achieve an impressive physique. However, Mike O’Hearn has been lifting for more than three decades now. ‘Titan’ is a living example of a hybrid athlete who is active even at this age. O’Hearn discloses his one true aspiration
A few months back, Mike had a conversation with fellow fitness creator Olav Johnsrud, who shared a clip of the interaction on his Instagram account. During the short chat, Johnsrud posed a serious question: “What do you wanna be remembered for?”

O’Hearn gave a beautiful reply. He said, “Wow. Um, dedication and longevity. The long game.” Following up on this answer, Johnsrud asked O’Hearn’s age. To which O’Hearn jokingly replied, “155, it’s pretty awesome.” He further humorously introduced himself as a vampire and told him he was on Earth from the beginning of time.
