Sharon is one such inspirational grandma who chose the path of fitness over a sedentary lifestyle. The CrossFit athlete recently went viral after deadlifting 200 pounds for five reps.

Now the daughter of Sharon, who is the CEO and Founder of Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism, shared her 64-year-old athletic mom’s inspiring story.

Sharon took to fitness in her fifties

The 64-year-old Sharon is a proud mom of two daughters and grandma to her boys and loves baking, the outdoors, family, and CrossFit, as per her Instagram bio. However, she had her share of struggles in her earlier days, narrates her daughter, Brianna Battles, in one of the Instagram posts.

Being a single mom, Sharon lived in survival mode for a very long time. However, she took to fitness in her fifties and is now leading a wholesome life. Battles shared an inspiring post about her mom and shared a video note that mentioned, “She did not start lifting, or working out until she was in her 50’s.” The post shared a motivational message, “It’s never too late. It’s never over. Athleticism can be experienced across the lifespan. And it will improve the quality of it.”

According to Battles, a coach herself, Athleticism does not end and can begin at different points. “It’s not over. It’s not too late. Your not too old, or inexperienced,” the post’s caption revealed. While Sharon is definitely an inspiring grandma, she is not the only one. Another grandma who proves fitness is beyond age is Marlene Flowers.

Marlene Flowers is a TikTok sensation who goes by the name Granny Guns. She has over 400,000 followers and has garnered 16 million likes for fitness videos. However, her workout stint started only at 58.

Believing in the mantra, “Don’t let fear stop you,” she never let her fears overcome her dreams. “Proving it’s never too late for fitness, one of my greatest accomplishments,” she once revealed about her contribution to the community.
