Arnie was born in 1947 in the small village of Thal in Austria, a couple of years after World War II ceased. The 76-year-old has seen poverty in childhood as he had to be accustomed to minimal existence. The power had to be efficiently used, chores had to be done by oneself, and water consumption was minimal because of the absence of running water. So, Schwarzenegger knew his kids should learn such efficient habits for better survival.

Every day before taking the kids to school, I would inspect to make sure that the lights were off, the beds made, and drawers and closets closed,” he confessed in his autobiography. However, Arnie noted that he was not as strict as his father in terms of making the kids comply. So, he ensured that kids should make beds despite the lack of perfection.

The Terminator icon, however, found it difficult to instill them with one particular habit, switching off the lights while leaving the room. He narrated that his children inherited the habit of sleeping with lights on from their mother’s family. “It was me against the entire Maria clan, because the kids inherited keeping the lights on from her,” he wrote in the book. Despite multiple efforts, the bodybuilding icon couldn’t completely change this habit of his kids.

How the Austrian Oak tried to mold his kids

Arnold Schwarzenegger can be safely credited with a great father tag, thanks to his involvement in his kids’ lives.
