Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s 25 years of companionship came crashing down as they announced separation in 2011. The extra-marital affair of the Terminator actor is the main reason behind the major setback in the relationship. As the fans are eagerly waiting for the three-part Netflix Docuseries Arnold, they expect to learn more about his personal life crisis after the divorce.
The bodybuilder, however, opens up that he isn’t comfortable speaking about the affair. While he admits that he feels remorse for his actions, he isn’t the one who counts on giving up. Moving forward and building the relationship with his children turned out to be more important for the actor. He further demands an Oscar for himself and his ex-wife to have managed an incredible upbringing of their children, despite the grief and differences.

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t comfortable speaking about his personal crisis
As per an article by People, Arnold, in the docuseries, recalled how he revealed his affair with the housekeeper to Shriver, a journalist, during a counseling session. In the docuseries, the actor admitted, “Maria and I went to counseling once a week.”

The Predator star in the series mentioned that he was asked about his connection to Joseph Baena during one of those sessions. “She wants to know if you are the father of Joseph,” the counselor told Schwarzenegger, which made his “heart stop.” Then he decided to let her know the truth. “Yes, Maria, Joseph is my son,” he confessed to his then-wife and further revealed that “she was crushed” by the disheartening news.
The FUBAR star further opened up and said he was “reluctant talking about it is because every time I do it opens up the wounds again.” He is sorry for all the suffering he caused to Shriver, his kids, Baena, and his mother. He further clarifies that the pair are out of the trauma now and celebrate all special occasions like a family.
The Austrian Oak demands Oscar for him and his ex-wife
Though the divorce was very trying initially, Arnie moved on with his life. He made his relationship better with his kids over the decade. The Governator and Shriver maintain a close friendship even now. He is proud of himself and his ex-wife for raising the kids well and imparting good values to them.

“If there’s Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it for having the least amount of impact on the kids,” opined the actor. Earlier, the actor credited Shriver for his daughter’s inner strength.
