The iconic actor Mark Wahlberg garners a lot of attention for his muscular physique. The actor even put on fifty pounds of pure muscle for his role in the action comedy movie Pain and Gain released in 2013. Fans love Marky Mark for his ability to shapeshift according to the script, reifying most of his roles. His jacked physique, at 52 years of age, continues to inspire many fitness enthusiasts.
However, Dr. Mike Israetel is not impressed with Brian Nguyen, the athlete’s performance coach, who has been training Mark Wahlberg for the past thirteen years. He posted his disapproval on social media posts, highlighting their ineffectiveness.

Taking to YouTube, Dr. Mike Israetel posted a video dissecting the training method suggested by Ngygen. In his channel Renaissance Periodization, the Doctor of Exercise starts the post with a chirpy note. However, as the video progresses, he gets brutally honest. Israetel captioned the reaction video, “Exercise Scientist ENRAGED By Mark Wahlberg’s Hollywood Workout.” The creator of the RP hypertrophy app gets agitated when he sees Wahlberg’s coach making him walk with light kettlebells in Figure 8.
The berserk bodybuilding coach said, “Is this a fu***** joke? This is a real workout, figure eight f****** walks with an unbelievably light load in the farmer’s carry give you nothing ……..” The Hypertrophy Doctor further adds, “I get better training walking my groceries to my f****** car literally in every respect it’s a more complex pattern it’s more distance and I sure should have more groceries than he has F******* kettlebells”
Dr. Mike Israetel believes ‘Marky Mark’ has a great body and has been training for a long time. The lightweights don’t do justice to the jacked actor’s physique. He opines Wahlberg can easily “… pull 225 through 15 even more for reps.” The Exercise Scientist believes there is no science behind the exercises suggested by the athlete coach. Recently the Doctor also criticized Superman, actor Henry Cavill’s coach Dave Rienzi, for making the actor do a modified version of the lateral raise.

Looking at the Witcher actor performing advanced lateral raises, the disturbed Professor vehemently objected saying, “Everyone gets fancy all the time. Why don’t these Hollywood trainers just do f***ing basic exercises?” Trying to cut the noise from the overcomplicated Hollywood exercise manual, the Hypertrophy specialist suggested actor to stick with the original exercises.

Dr. Israetel believed one should focus on the muscle group while exercising, rather than wasting time on the complex pattern. He also criticized static hold exercises meant to strengthen Cavill’s sword-fighting shoulders. He opined that statics are a waste of time. However, the fitness coach was quick to point out that he did not mean to offend anyone. His views are personal. Share your comments if you agree with Dr Israetel.
