Michael Israetel, a certified Ph.D. in Physiology who worked as a professor of Exercise and Sport Science in School before, was also a consultant on sports nutrition at the U.S. Olympic Training Site. Hence his opinions on the matter of bodybuilders’ and athletes’ diets do hold major weight. Recently, he talked how including sugar in one’s diet was not an issue, defying the popular notion about the same.

Israetel says sugar usage is fine if taken with high fiber
In one of the recent Instagram videos posted by Musclearning, Dr. Michael Israetel was featured. He talked about how Sugar can be included in one’s meal as long as they take high-fiber foods. He stated, “Sugar is totally fine so long as most of your carbs come from high fiber sources like fruits, and veggies, whole grains.”

Furthermore, he emphasized the fact that sugar is not as bad an element as one might think. He commented, “Sugar is not inherently bad for your health somehow.” Israetel pointed out how most of the elements in one’s bloodstream break down into sugar and hence sugar intake is not bad in itself, and if one was active with their fitness regimes they can take a bit of sugar here and there.

Another budding bodybuilder had also recently pointed out how one could eat whatever they want if they managed a specific aspect of their diet.

In one of the clips, Sam Sulek talked about how a bodybuilder can eat a box full of donuts if they wished to, as long as they kept calories in check. He stated, “It’s just a numbers game with calories.” He gave the explanation of how the nature of the food did not matter, whether donuts or chocolates, as long as they stay within the limit of their restricted calories.
