Ross Edgley is an extreme sport adventure athlete who has constantly pushed his body beyond limits to achieve superhuman feats. The sports science author went on a 1,780-mile journey in British waters. He achieved the mindboggling feat by swimming six to twelve hours every day and then taking a rest on his support boat. He chronicled his entire journey for 150 days- the time taken for him to reach the shore. The adrenaline seeker also completed a triathlon carrying a 99lbs tree.
The extreme athlete has also trained bodybuilding enthusiast Chris Hemsworth for his movie Thor: Love and Thunder. The Extraction movie actor respects the British athlete for his rigor and ability to break the mold. Recently, the two men graced an event together to talk about their friendship. Earlier in a GQ Heroes 2023 event, held in association with BMW, friends, and training partners, Hemsworth and Edley sat together to delve into the psyche’s underlying extreme sports. The Thor actor posed some interesting questions to the 37-year-old. A few days back, Edgley suffered a heat stroke while crossing Lake Trasimeno, Italy. He had set himself a challenge to cross the lake nonstop. However, the swimmer’s second attempt ended badly. Unfazed by the loss, the author was back at the GQ event imparting words of wisdom.
Talking about their friendship, Hemsworth said, “I first came across Ross, probably six or seven years ago. He started showing up on my Instagram feed, doing all of these insane things.” Like everyone else, even the iconic actor also marveled at Edgley’s resilience. Furthermore, Chris Hemsworth wanted to decipher the reason behind Edgley’s “insane” activities. To this, the world record holder had an unusual answer.
He referred to a Greek Mythology in which Zeus punished Sisyphus. Zeus made him carry a boulder up the hill for eternity. The 37-year-old added, “In many ways, Sisyphus is an absurd hero, because the struggle alone is enough to fill one’s heart,” Further explaining his stance the athlete mentioned, “This is why I do these crazy things. It’s my boulder.” The deep thinker also pursues such events for charity, as it gives him a bigger purpose to achieve his goals. Chris Hemsworth is also taking a different approach to life.

The Thor actor chooses a healthy lifestyle to lead a stress-free life
Although the actor has many movies up his kitty, the Australian actor likes taking breaks to prevent burnout. Earlier, in a GQ interview, the 39-year-old tacked some questions from followers. He answered the questions, pretending to be a commoner. One question was, “Does anyone know what he is doing to achieve a stress-proof life? What are the rules I must always follow to be stress free?”
To this, Hemsworth added that he is not an expert in the field and can suggest only those things that work for him. He said, “I’ll give you some tips, but I’m certainly not an expert. I’d say healthy habits, healthy choices, exercise, movement, mindfulness, nutrition, sleep. Surround yourself with wonderful people, stay positive, have goals.” The Thor actor also de-stresses by engaging in activities that he finds interesting. Both Edley and Hemsworth pursue things that bring them satisfaction. It may seem insane or extreme through someone else’s gaze, but their satisfaction depends on what meaning they attach to their goals.
