With technological advancements, several scientists have already proven gene editing to have some foundations of success by using it on animals. Now, bodybuilder and fitness influencer, Connor Murphy has been talking about how these can also be introduced in bodybuilding which in turn would blur the distinction between the “natural” or “not” dichotomy.

Connor Murphy began his fitness influencer journey with content like ‘Connor Murphy Natural Body Transformation’. However, later on, his lies about being natty were revealed. This time, he kind of questions the rule of natural physique with technological intervention such as the Gene Editing methods.

Murphy reported how anabolic genetic modification has been studied by several people for a prolonged time now. He stated, “It’s only a matter of time until it’s normalized for bodybuilders to have their genes edited to increase their anabolic capacity in ways that are indistinguishable from natural genetic variation, rendering their performance enhancement undetectable.” He also brought up the example of Brian Johnson who underwent Follistatin Gene Therapy inhibiting myostatin for his muscle growth.

Moreover, Murphy also talked about how sports federations are eager to find a detection method for such gene therapies. He also pointed out that it is futile to even try and trace whether it is natural or not. Instead, he suggested, “Embracing the paradox is the only rational course of action.”

Although Connor Murphy initially claimed to have been a natural, the bubble burst after some shocking revelations, especially during the pandemic. Not only Greg Doucette but YouTuber Patrick Lyons also confirmed the same.
