76-year-old bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger shared more fan questions on Arnold’s Pump Club. A member of his The Pump app shared the success he found after following Arnold Schwarzenegger’s protocols. However, as the user celebrated his milestone, he couldn’t help but ask the Austrian Oak how he celebrates his victories.

As the seven-time Mr. Olympia continues interacting with his The Pump app members, he shares some questions with everyone. Since Arnie has repeatedly told people working on their goals to celebrate the milestones along the way, he wanted everyone to know how he treats victories. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t really celebrate his wins.

“I will be honest. I’m sh*tty at celebrating,” the 76-year-old wrote in the reply. While most people celebrate their wins, a few, like Arnold Schwarzenegger simply set their sights on another goal. “I’m so bad at slowing down and enjoying a victory – I’m just moving forward to the next thing,” Arnie revealed in his response. However, the seven-time Mr. Olympia also acknowledged it might not be a healthy practice.

The 76-year-old former Mr. Univesre said it’s “not normal” not to acknowledge a milestone. Hence, he always tells others to celebrate their wins. While keeping an eye on the prize is necessary, Arnie wrote that “recognizing those wins helps you stay committed,” to the end goal. So, while grinding until you reach your goal is crucial, it’s necessary to look back sometimes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has always advised his ‘village’ members not to resort to extremes. He has told people that improvements come in increments, and it’s important to celebrate those incremental improvements to keep track of how far someone has come. However, the Austrian Oak’s reason behind not celebrating a victory might be stoicism.

Arnold Schwarzenegger draws inspiration from a philosopher king

The fan who asked Arnie about celebrating milestones also asked which “book” inspired the seven-time Mr. Olmypia. Anie responded that the works of the Roman emperor and stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius have always inspired him. The bodybuilding icon said that his first mentor, Alfred Gerstl, introduced him to Aurelius.

Gerstl told Schwarzenegger and his friends to “train our minds as much as our bodies.” So, he started reading about the stoic teachings of Marcus Aurelius. Maybe that’s why, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, has never celebrated and focused on the stoic philosophy of a well-lived life.

While he has earned worldwide fame, Arnie also pushes back against taking credit for his contribution to bodybuilding. Hence, while Arnold Schwarzenegger might be a stoic who moves from one goal to another and rarely looks back, he doesn’t advise others to do the same.
