The 2023 Mr. Olympia is approaching, and the excitement is building up with each passing day. But there is some upsetting news for the fans of reigning Master Olympia, Kamal Elgargni.
The 51-year-old bodybuilding icon took to his Instagram to announce that he would not compete in the upcoming Mr. Olympia due to his brother’s health condition. The Master Olympia winner was sad about his decision but had to do it for the family.

Bodybuilders train rigorously throughout the year to compete in the Mr. Olympia. However, not always athletes could make it to the final day of the event, owing to various reasons. Earlier, Iain Valliere decided to retire from the competitive arena, and fans will not witness him striking poses on the stage. Now, Kamal Elgargni has taken to Instagram to disclose his decision to not compete at the Mr. Olympia.

The former 212 Mr. Olympia champion started his video by saying, “I have a big announcement, is a very big for me, is a big disappointment.” Disclosing his decision, the icon said, “After winning the Olympia Masters, I went back home. Sadly, I had my older brother, he had cancer, became like a sarcoma… But really decided, I’m not gonna be at the Olympia this year.”
Elgargni is not unaware of the massive stakes he had this year and said, “So, I know it’s a massive year for me. I’m qualified for both 212 and the Open, but family is family.” Finally, he emotionally confessed, “So, I really, really sad for that to happen.” So, the Mr. Olympia stage has lost another competitor this year. A few other bodybuilders had also announced they wouldn’t be making it to this year’s Mr. Olympia.

Bodybuilders on the Mr. Olympia roster who dropped out
Iain Valliere retired from the competitive arena last month. So, despite being qualified for the Mr. Olympia this year, fans wouldn’t see Valliere on stage.
