212 Mr. Olympia champion, Shaun Clarida was blessed with a baby girl on 2nd January 2023. He recently even celebrated her first birthday by putting up a heart-touching post for her on her first birthday. But while being a father has been one of the most prized positions for him, it comes with its own sets of challenges. 

Everything has been great for Shaun Clarida, apart from the fact that this is the first time in his life he has been hit with a real responsibility. Although he does not regret it one bit, he is still juggling the two most important roles of his life – being a father and a pro bodybuilder. Here’s what his biggest struggle has been, days after he celebrated a year into parenthood.

Muscle & Strength recently took to their official YouTube channel where the bodybuilding icon, Shaun Clarida is seen talking about his life as a pro bodybuilder. He talks about his greatest challenge as he stepped into fatherhood. His primary focus has shifted and he states that for the first time in his life, he has felt like he has realized responsibility.

Clarida said, “I said after she was born you know I’m an adult now. I have some real responsibility.” He adds that because Amiyah Piera Clarida is still a newborn, the most difficult thing has been maintaining their sleep pattern. The baby sleeps whenever she wants to, and they have to follow her.

They are also trying to spend as much time with her. And along with that, he is also trying to balance his routine. He adds, “So balance, you know balance is a bit of a challenge right now.” He even adds how he made it as a professional bodybuilder after years of getting into the field.

Further in the video, Shaun Clarida added how when he began Bodybuilding he was a college student and parallely had a full-time time. It was in 2017, that he was able to make his passion a full-time thing. From 2005 to 2014, he still had a job supporting him financially despite being a pro. He said, “I had responsibilities because I had real bills to pay.” He added that it takes a lot of time and patience to make it big in the professional world, and that is the reason why not many can say that they are a full-time Bodybuilder.

However, he considers himself lucky, that even though his family did not understand him, they have been immensely supportive of him throughout his journey. He struggled a lot, but the drive for his passion was what kept him going, and well, the result speaks for the dedication he had!
