Recently, Bumstead posted a picture of himself working out his back along with his coach Hany Rambod and the former 212 Olympia champion Derek Lunsford. However, it was the post’s caption that grabbed people’s attention. The caption read, “I’m almost never the biggest guy in the gym, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” This statement reflects Bumstead’s unique mindset of finding motivation in his personal growth.

Bumstead acknowledged a physical aspect where he might be perceived as having a limitation. But rather than viewing his physical size as a disadvantage, Bumstead chooses to celebrate his unique attributes and turn them into advantages. He understands that being the biggest doesn’t determine success in bodybuilding.

Despite not being the biggest guy in the gym, Bumstead has dominated the bodybuilding world by winning four Olympia titles. By focusing on the blessings in his life, he maintains a positive mindset that allows him to push through challenges and setbacks. However, this doesn’t mean that the Olympia champion has never been through a phase of self-introspection and self-doubt.

When Chris Bumstead lost his confidence to get on the stage

The 4x Mr. Olympia champion once opened up about an incident that happened just before the 2022 Mr. Olympia, which affected his morale. In a podcast, CBum revealed that he had been suffering from pain in his biceps for quite a long time, but on the day of the competition, he found out that he had torn his biceps. The news came as a shock to him and crushed his confidence to get on the stage.

However, he revealed that it was his coach Hany Rambod that came to the rescue and gave him a push start. Hany said to Bumstead, “What the f**k is wrong with you man. Smile up there, relax, you are the champ, walk as you own it.”. Coach’s words were enough to motivate the beast as he went on the stage and dominated the event with his exceptional physique and breathtaking performance.
