Are you a fan of using peanut butter to shed extra body fat? Well, you might want to think twice before spreading it on your toast if you’re trying to lose weight. Recently, the renowned bodybuilding coach Greg Doucette has some shocking news about this popular health food.
In his latest YouTube video titled “Stop Eating These Foods,” Doucette debunked the myth surrounding peanut butter as a healthy alternative. In the video, he reasoned why most people fail to accomplish the goals they set as New Year’s resolutions. He stated: “January 1st, you have a New Year’s resolution to lose weight every single year. Your goal is to lose weight, and you never do it. You know why? Because 19 out of 20, that’s 95%, of diets fail.”
Doucette doesn’t hold back, calling out peanut butter as a culprit in the battle of the bulge. He explained, “Peanut butter is loaded in fat and it’s low in protein. It’s a high-calorie dense food. You need to eat the opposite of high-calorie dense foods in order to lose weight.” But why does he sound the alarm on peanut butter? Well, it all comes down to calories.

Doucette warns, “These foods, they’re high in calories. They’re great for bulking. They’re great for athletes doing a ton of cardio and having trouble getting in their calories.” So, what’s the bottom line? Doucette’s message is clear: if you’re serious about shedding those extra pounds, peanut butter might not be your best friend. Instead, he advises opting for foods that are low in calorie density and high in nutritional value. Besides Doucette, fitness influencer Mark Bell also mentioned a common food that is not good for people trying to lose weight.

What seems harmless might cause weight gain, says Mark Bell
Earlier, Mark Bell had highlighted a big hindrance to weight loss, snacks with both carbs and fats, like potato chips and cheese. According to him, avoiding these was key to losing body fat. He took to his Instagram and advised, “The worst options are potato chips… cheese… fat and carbohydrates together.”
He suggested better choices. Instead of unhealthy snacks, he recommended that people go for protein-rich foods like steak or chicken. He also vouched for supplements like Steak Shake or This is the Whey Protein to meet protein goals. “1-1.5x bodyweight in grams of protein,” Bell explained the rule he followed for weight loss. Bell saw food as energy and urged thoughtful eating. He warned against “fake hunger,” where one craved quick but unhealthy snacks over wholesome meals like steak, chicken, or eggs.
