Joey Swoll or Joseph Sergo is a bodybuilding internet sensation who advocates for positivity inside the gym and tries to eradicate toxic gym culture. Swoll has always called out those who break gym etiquette by not respecting fellow gymgoers. In the last few years, he has earned the moniker of CEO of gym positivity and he does leave up to that name.

Recently, the fitness influencer rebuked a man who was insulting a woman who was filming inside the gym. It is known that Swoll himself does not like people filming inside the gym, but there was something different about this case that made him come to the rescue of the gymgoer.

Swoll’s Instagram post starts with a young woman filming herself doing some pull-ups in the gym. In the video, one can see that the filming was done without encroaching on anyone’s privacy or stopping anyone from using any gym equipment. However, in the background of the video one could hear a man’s voice insulting her and asking her to concentrate on her workout rather than filming it. Swoll assured the gymgoer by saying, “I just wanna say I am so sorry that happened to you keep up the great work and please know if I was in the gym when that man spoke to you that way, I’d have your back.”

He also stated that he understands why so many people get upset about filming inside the gym, but also advocates for the fact that this can never be a reason to disrespect someone. “As long as they allow it and you do so responsibly, with respect for other people. Unfortunately, there are a lot of creators and influencers that have abused that. But this young woman is not one of them. I checked her content out. It’s great it’s informative it’s done responsibly and she is always respectful and never tries to catch people in the background unless it’s her boyfriend,” Swoll explained.

Finally, the CEO of Gym Positivity clearly stated the boundaries that should be maintained while filming inside the gym. Just days ago, Swoll had defended an elderly woman on the treadmill, who was being made fun of by three younger men.

Earlier, Swoll shared an Instagram video showing the footage which started the whole ordeal. In the video, one could see three guys that seem to be harmlessly dancing to a Rihanna song but as soon as the hook started playing, they moved away from the camera to show an elderly woman on the treadmill minding her own business and working out.

This disappointed the bodybuilding champion and he rebuked them in the video as well as the captions. He declared, “This video pis*es me off. This woman is minding her own business doing her cardio, yes listening to music and dancing to make it more fun to make it more enjoyable. But you three could not help themselves and you said hey let’s set up our camera to take a video to mock and make fun of her.

As Swoll explains, there is a thin line between filming in the gym and filming while disturbing other gymgoers. The line might blur often, but the CEO of Gym Positivity will definitely be there to correct those who sidestep boundaries at the gym.
